A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Musheer Alam and Justice Zawwar Hussain on Thursday appointed two advocates as Amicus Curiae to visit and report about alleged mushrooming of illegal constructions in Delhi Colony - Clifton Karachi.

The bench said in order to determine factual and correct position Messrs Faisal Siddiqui and Rizwana Ismail as Amicus Curiae to assist the SHC in passing appropriate orders, the order said putting of further hearing till 1st week of December.

The bench was hearing a constitution petition filed by Fatima Begum, a widow and resident of the area - complaining of infrastructure break down, acute water shortage never experienced in the area before, and alleged illegal conversion of residential bungalows into multi storey flat complexes.

The respondents include Director General Military Lands, Director Military Lands, President Clifton Cantonment board and Cantonment Executive Officer.

The bench said in its order that apparently a large number of unauthorised constructions of buildings had come up in the entire area of Delhi Colony as admitted by the authorities concerned and it seemed reluctant to take action for obvious reasons.
